ApeCoin launched by NFT project Bored Apes Yacht Club (BAYC) might become the new Bitcoin. But mostly for games and NFTs. Airdrop of ApeCoin ($APE) will happen at 18th of March.
“Introducing ApeCoin ($APE), a token for culture, gaming, and commerce used to empower a decentralized community building at the forefront of web3”, – authors wrote in Twitter.
ApeCoin’s emission will be permanently kept at 1 billion coins. All the tokens will be distributed among the four main groups:
- 8% will go to the founders of Bored Apes Yacht Club;
- 16% will go to the Yuga Labs team (a portion of which equal to 1% of the total token supply will be donated to the Jane Goodall Foundation Legacy Foundation);
- 14% will go to “launch contributors,” which will assumedly be made up of Yuga partners and investors;
- 15% will go to owners of the Bored Apes and Mutant Apes collections;
- 47% will be released over time as part of the DAO’s “ecosystem fund”.
The coin will be managed by the decentralized organization ApeCoin DAO.
Any owner of the token can become a member of the DAO.
What’s next for ApeCoin
“I don’t know how big Bored Ape Yacht Club can be, that’s not to say that I don’t imagine it to be big, but I think — I hope — Yuga will be big and that we will be able to create lots of things that are unique and special and speak to the greater community in different ways”, – said Yuga CEO Nicole Muniz.
Besides the airdrop on 18 of March, 150 million APE, as well as derivative assets of MAYC and BAKC, will be distributed among the holders of NFT BAYC.
Binance and Coinbase have already pledged to support ApeCoin. So there will be no problem to buy ApeCoin as soon as it gets out in the wild. Some analysts already claim that ApeCoin might become the new Bitcoin in the age of the Metaverse.
Earlier Yuga Labs has revealed their plans to create a metaverse game MetaRPG. ApeCoin token will become an important part of the game.
The Bored Ape Yacht Club is a collection of 10000 unique Bored Ape NFTs— unique digital collectibles living on the Ethereum blockchain.
