NiceHash offers 100% LHR unlock, Nvidia is finally beaten

NiceHash offers 100% LHR unlock for Nvidia graphic cards

NiceHash launches 100% LHR graphic cards unlock with the new version of its mining software. Nvidia LHR cards can now be used for Ethereum mining with full capacity.

NiceHash Blog is a place where the Slovenian mining company usually boasts its new achievements.

Today NiceHash informed its customers via blog about the new version of their mining software. It’s called  NiceHash QuickMiner (Excavator). The new version is the first mining software to fully (100%) unlock LHR graphic card by Nvidia.

So NiceHash with its LHR unlock seems to have finally beaten Nvidia.

What is LHR unlock and why is it important?

Basically LHR unlock means that you can fully utilize the power of your GPU to mine Ethereum.

Nvidia famously implemented LHR (Low Hash Rate) programmable limitation to its 30×0 generation of graphic cards in desperate effort to make top GPUs not that interesting for miners. Thus there would a slight opportunity for usual gamers to buy those GPUs.

Nice try, Nvidia. But the miners were able to find a solution rather quickly.

GPUs that were sold as LHR could be unlock with software to achieve approximately 70% of the mining potential. And that was enough for the global GPU shortage to continue. Miners know their math. Even with LHR limitations Ethereum mining was still profitable in 2021.

Despite the crypto prices falling in 2022, miners are still actively buying the Nvidia graphic cards for Ethereum mining. Even the inevitable Ethereum switch to Proof-of-Stake doesn’t seem to scare them off.

What is NiceHash offering for LHR unlock now?

A new version of NiceHash Quick Miner (also known as Excavator) is able to fully unlock LHR Nvidia graphic cards.

Fully means 100%. So basically LHR limitations lose sense.

No matter what kind of Nvidia GPU you have with NiceHash Quick Miner you will be able to mine Ethereum at 100% of the GPUs power.

No settings or tweaks are needed. Unlike many other mining software that requires tweaking the new version of NiceHash QuickMiner does the LHR unlock seamlessly and automatically.

NiceHash Quick Miner is a rather popular mining software for Ethereum, but the payments are done in Bitcoin. That’s why NiceHash cleverly calls its products “a Bitcoin mining software”.

For some users new version of NiceHash QuickMiner with LHR unlock also makes it more advantageous than mining direct to a pool, since other software is not capable of unleashing the full capacity of your hardware.

Key Takeways

  • NiceHash is the first company to propose the full LHR unlock for Nvidia graphic cards
  • The software called NiceHash QuickMiner will do the full LHR unlock automatically. You don’t need to manually adjust settings
  • Ethereum is going to PoS sometime later this year, but mining is still profitable. And it might become even more profitable now if you have an LHR Nvidia card. Being able to unlock it you can raise your mining profits as much as for 30%.
