The NFT market dipped this week, with sales dropping 92 percent. Famous American rapper Rick Ross thinks he may be responsible for that. Could Rick Ross have crashed the NFT market?
Recent NFT sales decline is being widely discussed on social media. Many people have theories of their own. But some are ready to take the blame.
One of them is Rick Ross, who thinks he may caused NFT market crash.
In his recent Instagram story, Rick Ross kind of apologized for his earlier comments about crypto investors. It looks like he truly thinks those comments have something to do with what happened to NFT market.
“Man, I just woke up, and I heard the NFT market crashed 92 percent, I hope that wasn’t cause of my post,” Rick Ross says in the video.
Could Rick Ross crash NFT market with his post?
Rapper’s previous post about investing in NFTs wasn’t likely to cause the dip in sales. But Rick Ross did take shots at those buying NFTs into the metaverse.
He basically tried to challenge those people investing into the metaverse to show themselves.
“The metaverse, crypto y’all get so much money where you at? Where you at?” he said.
He immediately cleared that he wasn’t trying to make them show the money, because – obviously – he has plenty of money himself.
“I got a lot of money I don’t even need that fake money but show my homies what the metaverse about.” Rick Ross claimed.
Who is Rick Ross?
William Leonard Roberts II (born January 28, 1976), known professionally as Rick Ross, is an American rapper and record executive.
He is quite successful with his 11 studio albums. His popularity rose on top of his famaous feud with rapper 50 cent, his arrest in 2008 on gun and marijuana charges.
In 2017 he got in the center of the huge scandal, having made unpleasant comments about female rappers. Rick Ross said that he would never signed a female rapper because he would eventually started intimate relationship with her. Ross had to apologize for his comments, stating “that was a big mistake he regretted”.
Key takeways
- It is highly unlikely that Rick Ross alone could be the cause of the NFT market crash
- But it is obvious that celebrities like Ross can influence the market in a certain way. NFTs are a relatively new and highly volatile asset, heavily dependent of famous people wanting to invest.
